Team pilot Dianna Stanger, co-pilot Joyce Wilson and teammate Erin Cude will take to the skies on Monday, June 16th to compete in a four-day air race across the US. Stanger won the air race in 2012 and the team is looking to reclaim the podium in our platinum bronze SR22.
When asked about this year’s strategy, Dianna commented on how weather always plays an important role in the success of the race:
“In 2013, the start had been delayed due to bad weather: a system had sat over the beginning of the race route. We planned on staying ahead of the weather and fortunately, the front did not happen and we were able to finish the race first. This year’s Cirrus SR22 is equipped with XM Weather in the Cirrus Perspective by Garmin cockpit. With this additional weather information available, our team will be able to make plans while in route, virtually on the fly every hour of the race.”
The Racing Aces made their way to Concord, CA on Tuesday, June 10th to take part in pre-race activities. You can follow the race via Facebook and Twitter with hashtag #acesraceincirrus. The Air Race Classic promotes current and future women pilots while increasing public awareness of general aviation. We’re excited to play a small role in this endeavor by supporting Stanger and her team in this race!
