Japan Civil Aviation College Selects Cirrus Aircraft SR22 for Flight Training Academy

February 9, 2018

Duluth, Minn. & Knoxville, Tenn. (9 February 2018) – Cirrus Aircraft today announced that Japan Civil Aviation College (JCAC), the largest flight academy in Japan, has adopted the technologically advanced SR22 as its primary training aircraft. As the only national aviation flight academy in Japan, JCAC first acquired a fleet of ten SR22 for its Obihiro location in 2016. The aviation college is now adding an additional 20 SR22 aircraft for its locations in Obihiro (Northern Japan) and Miyazaki (Southern Japan), making JCAC the largest operator of SR22 aircraft in the world.

JCAC trains approximately fifty percent of the pilots for the major airlines in Japan, including Japan Airlines (JAL) and All Nippon Airways (ANA). The addition of SR22 aircraft to JCAC’s training fleet marks the latest milestone of Cirrus Aircraft being chosen by a premier global training program to provide advanced, easy-to-fly modern aircraft to train the next generation of professional pilots.

“Cirrus Aircraft is pleased to continue working with Japan Civil Aviation College,” said David Moser, Vice President, Fleet and Special Mission, at Cirrus Aircraft. “JCAC’s selection of the SR22 reflects the forwarding thinking of this world-class aviation training organization. The advanced systems uniquely offered by a Cirrus aircraft make it the ideal platform for training professional pilots in the 21st century.  We congratulate JCAC on choosing the safest, most technologically advanced aircraft to train tomorrow’s professional pilots.”

Designed to be the industry-leading training platform, the technologically-advanced Cirrus SR Series boasts an impressive list of features and capabilities. Each aircraft includes the integrated Cirrus Perspective+™ by Garmin® flight deck with dual 12-inch flight displays, a Flight Management System (FMS) keypad controller, an Electronic Stability and Protection system, plus integrated engine indication and crew alerting and warning systems. These features are found on today’s most advanced airliners, making the SR Series the ideal training platform for aspiring commercial airline pilots.

The aircraft also comes equipped with the Continental IO-550-N, 310 horsepower engine and features a durable all-composite structure with the signature Cirrus Airframe Parachute System® (CAPS®), making the SR Series one of the safest and most versatile training airplanes available today.

Japan Civil Aviation College joins a premier group of world-class flight training programs around the globe that operate Cirrus aircraft fleets, including eight major airlines and ten leading training academies. Aviation leaders using SR Series fleet aircraft include Lufthansa, Emirates, the United States Air Force Academy, L3-Aerosim Academy, Purdue University, Western Michigan University, Southern Utah University and the Civil Aviation Flying University of China. Additionally, Cirrus Perception™ – Cirrus Aircraft’s sensor-capable special mission aircraft – is ideal for a broad range of law enforcement and civilian missions. It has been used to enhance law enforcement search and rescue efforts of organizations, like the Minnesota State Patrol.
